HCDO Discussion > Your Pension: Who wants it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wake up members! There is a movement going on to privatize your TCDRS account. Billkinghouston.com along with Talmadge Heflin: texaspolicy.com: Scroll down to Reforming Texas' Pension System. You better read it. They think they know what's best for us. They have written House Bill 2506. There was a hearing on April 26, 2011. The Texas Retired Teacher's Association was there in numbers to oppose it. The bill was put on the back burner. I contacted TCDRS. They say the threat is REAL, and there are Texas Senators that support this bill. Harris County Deputies Organization, WHAT DO WE DO ???????????

It appears that our pension is safe for now. Make no mistake, There are those who would privatize it so as to eliminate the "burden" of matching/growth management etc...We must keep abreast of all developements on any attempts to alter our pensions.
