Harris County Pct. 4 Announces Layoffs
Harris County recently slashed the budget by several million dollars in the swipe of a pen in one meeting. Many different agencies were affected, but the hardest hit, believe it or not, is police officers and Deputy Constables. It’s being reported as many as 400 officers, mostly Deputy Constables, are being laid off. That’s right, in a three week period, dedicated police officers in Harris County went from protecting and serving, some for 10 to 20 years, to not being able to make their next mortgage payment, or their child support.
We want to help
Our members are great men and women who are looking for some direction in times like this. As HCDO gathers information and sources of help for you in dealing with family law issues and other ramifications of this budget crunch, we will post links and articles here. If you know of other avenues of assistance or guidance, please call or email any board member and we will be sure the information is made available.
Obviously many police officers are fathers and given the statistics with police officers being divorced many of these dedicated public servants won’t be able to pay the mortgage, not to mention child support. "Many people write to us looking for help with their family law problems, and we try to connect them with resources in their areas who can be of assistance."
