By now you have enjoyed your Christmas holiday and you are getting ready to celebrate the New Year 2010. The New Year is a time for new beginnings! We want to put our old ways and bad habits behind us and start fresh, so we pull out our pads and pencils and start making our New Year Resolutions. As you make your list to improve your mind and body, don’t forget your soul! Take time for spiritual nourishment; plan your spiritual menu, just as you would plan for your body’s nourishment!
No Christian believer can live the Christian life to the fullest without an adequate grasp of the Bible and regular, consistent study of its pages.
The Word of God nourishes the spirit within the man, like food supplies nourishment to his body. It comforts those who are downcast. It strengthens the weak. It enlightens the seeker. It protects against the dangers of temptation and sin. It brings joy to the heart. It renews those who have spiritual life. It gives light, freedom and confidence in our daily walk. It reveals God’s love for us. It imparts insight, discernment and judgment. It brings us delight when we are afflicted. It rebukes the arrogant. It re-proves the sinful and provides an avenue for forgiveness.
As you begin each quest in the Word ask the Lord to open your spiritual eyes to under-stand the words you read; to comprehend the life principles conveyed by the words; an to give you a yielded, willing heart and the strength to do what God bids. He will bless your spirit and soul – your very life.
Have a safe and Happy New Year!
